Life on Earth may not get easier, but you can get wiser.

We will complete an initial assessment, create a treatment plan and work through your concerns right away. I specialize in treating men, and you may not want to be here searching for a shrink because someone else said, “You have a problem.” I get it. Yet, the stakes are high and either you’re willing to read this message because you love someone, or you finally decided you may need help.

You may be wondering how a woman like me can help. For over 15 years, most of my patients are firefighters, police officers, former military, and/or other professional men. Quite honestly, it doesn’t matter what you do for a living, I am here to provide professional and clinical counseling that makes sense to you.

Boys grow up learning, 1) Don’t cry about it, 2) Don’t talk about it, and 3) Don’t ask for help. Those boys become men, and then everyone wants them to talk, cry, and be amazing in relationships. Simply, that’s confusing and frustrating. In a world of dating, marriage, parenting, making money, and doing chores, we all need support. However, it’s not lost on me that only some men will relate to this message. We’re all unique human beings, and I’ll take the time to learn your story and perspective (man or woman); and then we’ll tackle the problem and find solutions together.

I may recommend talk therapy, psychology education, coping skills training, relationship skills training, and/or EMDR therapy. In-session note taking and therapy homework are a normal part of my practice. You will learn about yourself and what your healthy options are.

I think what I love the most about being a therapist is applying psychology so that it is useful. You do not have to feel so stressed or upset. You don’t have to numb out or feel like a failure either. Life is tough and sometimes stupid. I’m happy to help you navigate out of a stuck point.

Public speaking and classes on mental health topics for first responders in Illinois and Florida are always available. Please call the office about presentation fees.

Take good care, and do life so it doesn’t do you!  Sarah
